Art: Os Gemeos (the Twins)

I first learned of Os Gemeos while living in Sao Paulo. Obviously they had made it by that point; my first viewing was a painted ceiling at the ultra establishment interior design show of Casa Cor. Their colors and figures just grab your attention and won’t let go. I would love to see more of their work. A little search has come up with a few resources after the jump.
Also, from Deitch Projects:
Os Gemeos (pronouced “ose zhe’-mee-ose.”) are two artists from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Born in 1974, they are identical twin brothers (Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo) and their name translates to “the twins” in Portuguese. In recent years Os Gemeos have gained international notoriety for their unique works created on the streets of Sao Paulo. They also paint canvases, make sculptures, and are both graphic designers and photographers.

I like them too. Seeing the pictures you posted, Os Gemeos reminded me of both Yoshitomo Nara and Diego Rivera (Yoshitomo subjects with Rivera’s colors).
First of all, thank you very much, Dan. I’m truely honoured. Then I wish I had «that» eye for visual arts as words come often easy to me. I’d say it has to do with the fact of being shortsighted since childhood.
I’m glad there are street artists who do such marvelous works, instead of the dreadful tags some «graffitist» wannabes spray all over the walls, at least around here, of course. There’s only one who’s really good.
Augusto’s comment reminded me of an exhibition I saw a few weeks ago. And curiously there’s some likeness between Os Gémeos and that exceptional woman, Rivera’s wife, who was Frida Kahlo, and whose work came to Lisbon (Centro Cultural de Belém) for the very first time.
Carpe diem & be happy!
